Dear World…Yours, Cambridge

The University of Cambridge boasts a vast and significant legacy and we’ve been working with the university to bring their recent fundraising campaign that celebrates its influence to life.

For eight centuries it’s been a source of huge impact on the world. The university welcomes brilliant minds in, provides the space to collaborate and create, and then sends world-changing ideas back out again. There’s no doubt; Cambridge is a uniquely fertile environment for discovery and innovation.

“Dear World… Yours, Cambridge” is the university’s open letter to the world, highlighting some of the influential and renowned individuals that have taken their ideas out from the university to make their mark on the world. The campaign focuses on one simple concept:

Dear World… The people who arrive in this city change Cambridge. The ideas that leave this city change the world. Yours, Cambridge

The public realm at the West Cambridge campus is undergoing a transformation and is now host to a number of monumental interpretation signs, made from steel and wood. The unique campaign uses the concept of a letter to celebrate some of the university’s many innovations, discoveries and inventions that have changed the world. From Isaac Newton and Charles Darwin to William Wordsworth and Alan Turing, the university has had a hand in shaping our understanding of science, nature the arts and more.

We have worked closely with the university to translate the campaign’s brand onto a signage family, which is now being rolled out across the West Cambridge campus.

Guy Warren, Design Director said:

“The Dear World concept is unique, not simply because of the university’s unique legacy, but in its straight-talking, witty and captivating messaging. It’s been a thrill to get involved with bringing the concept to life through these larger-than-life signs, which will have a huge impact in tying the West Cambridge into the city-centre collegiate estate.”
