Sue Manley

Strategy Director

An architect by training, Sue founded Placemarque in 2000 after she discovered her passion was in designing ways to help people feel confident to explore and connect with where they are.

As Strategy Director, her core approach is to first understand a place and its barriers to movement, so that the right solution can be found to make sense of the place. Sue likes to come up with simple ways to bring ideas across, break down barriers to movement and help people navigate in and around buildings and places.

A member of RIBA and fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Sue speaks regularly at universities and business events to share her approach and insight.

Hannah Southwell

Graphic Designer

Hannah is a wayfinding and graphic designer. She loves getting to design for real places, researching the unique story behind a place, and turning concepts and ideas into a final scheme. Her work for the 2018 award-winning Ireland’s Ancient East project for Failte Ireland is a great example; the final spiral design reflected the historic Hill of Tara logo.

As well as developing strategies and concepts, she also secretly loves getting stuck into the detail: working out how to translate all the important information and content into the sign design.

Hannah is currently supporting the practice in exploring the development of wayfinding strategies using big data and digital technologies.

Tom Tymon

Assistant Graphic Designer

With a strong background in the arts and a keen interest in visual communication, Tom is thrilled by the opportunity to contribute his perspective to new wayfinding strategies.

His excitement initially stemmed from the outdoors, navigating woodlands and national parks using a compass and map, but his intrigue in the architecture, history and culture of more urban areas has led his interest to cover wayfinding as a whole.

After being introduced to basic design software, Tom has expanded his skillset to 3D modelling, along with the main applications of the Adobe suite and has structured his education around graphic design.

Tom is eager and enthusiastic about environmental design and is assisting on a number of Placemarque projects.
