The challenge

At an existing site like Cressex, with plenty of existing signage and destinations, the challenge is how to bring clarity to the wayfinding to avoid overwhelming users.

What we did

The first important job was to audit the existing signage, distil the information into a clear hierarchy and properly understand who the sign audiences are.

Next, we reviewed the site layout and audience needs and developed a strategy for consistent wayfinding. Part of our stakeholder engagement involved testing location plans and concept designs, to make sure our final proposal hit the mark. We liaised with several landlords and managing agents across the site to gain their approval on the proposed signage within their boundary.

We designed a coordinated family of signs, including gateways, vehicular and pedestrian signs.

And we drew up two levels of plans – first to meet the planning application requirements and then to provide the detailed design intent drawings, specifications and artwork were developed for manufacturer costing and procurement.

We worked closely with the sign manufacturer, Sign Print Identity, to approve samples, finalise locations and oversee delivery of the project.

Why it works

Our input from start to finish has ensured that the signs are in the right location to guide users in the most direct way to their destination. They also represent the business park’s new visual brand brilliantly.

 
We were subsequently appointed by the client to deliver their other business park site wayfinding which had already been through planning and a brief conceptual stage.
