Further enhancing the journey at Ireland’s Blueways

Together with TOBIN Consulting Engineers, LUC environmental consultancy and Louise Brown Associates, Placemarque has been appointed to the Failte Ireland Framework for Ireland’s Blueways and Greenways.

We will be collaborating on various projects across Ireland’s Greenways and Blueways network to deliver interpretation, branding, wayfinding and improvements to visitor amenities over the next three years.

This framework will focus on delivering improvement works at individual sites.

Signage is just one aspect of the works that will be delivered through the three-year framework. Individual projects will provide quality visitor amenities, new public spaces, and leisure activities. Failte Ireland’s vision is that the enhancements will help new visitors and residents to explore and enjoy the Blueways and Greenways in new ways – whether that’s trying out canal cruising or canoeing, or exploring lesser-known towns and villages on foot or by bike.

This is a key part of Failte Ireland’s strategy to boost tourism and deliver on its ambitions to be a world-class activities tourism destination.

Sue Manley, Placemarque’s Strategy Director said:

“It’s fantastic to be part of this framework and be designing for real life projects, with some fantastic solutions, on the ground.”

Shane Kelly from TOBIN Consulting Engineers said:

“We look forward to working with all our partners and stakeholders in maximising the potential of our outdoor amenities and providing public spaces to be enjoyed by communities across Ireland.”
